The Position:
The Director, Policy - Quebec will provide policy analysis and advice on a wide range of economic and policy issues affecting the life and health insurance industry in Canada in support of the industry’s collective efforts. You will contribute to the provincial government relations program in Quebec to enhance the reputation of the life and health insurance industry.

What you will be working on:
- Policy: Participate in strategy development and tactics to assist the industry to build consensus on policy positions and strategies to attain desired legislative and regulatory outcomes. Prepare or contribute to industry submissions and other briefing material.
- Keep current on best practices, industry's products, and government programs and their impacts as applicable
- Monitor and identify emerging developments including legislative, regulatory or standards changes, assess the implications for the organization/industry and keep stakeholders informed (employees, leadership, members etc.) of developments
- Relationships: Identify, build and maintain effective relationships and communication with CLHIA staff, member companies and external stakeholders to achieve operational goals aligned with the strategic objectives and relevant to pursuing the industry's policy interests and/or CLHIA operational needs.
- Committees: Lead and manage CLHIA committees and working groups related to department and work closely with members and/or stakeholders to build consensus on industry policy positions
What you will bring:
- University degree in a related field (e.g. political science, economics) with 7 - 10 years’ experience or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of government processes and procedures
- Previous financial services experience, knowledge of the life and health insurance industry, and/or experience with member-based organizations may be considered an asset
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, media); ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with individuals at all levels within and outside the organization
- Demonstrate behaviours reflective of high professional standards of conduct aligned with the organization’s core values
- Analytical, problem solving and research skills needed to analyze issues, develop options and recommendations
- Leadership skills with proven experience to contribute to applicable strategies and tactics, as required/applicable
- Bilingual French and English
