CLHIA supports Yukon's suggested updates to the Health Professions Act

One of the Yukon's goals is to improve the complaints process by bringing all health professions under the Health Professions Act and creating a standard complaint process for all professions.
We have suggested consideration of maintaining separation of professional associations, which protect the health care providers, and the college, which protects the public.
The CLHIA agrees with the publication of complaints of professional misconduct, allowing the public to make informed decisions when choosing a health care provider, and allowing the insurance industry to investigate and suppress potential fraud.
